I really like your articles. I home-schooled my children all through high-school and now they are very caring and responsible members of our society. They have been beginning their families and keep their children with them. They are absolute on "Parents Train Up Your Children in The Way They Should Go!" .........................
As an at home mom and artisan I craft crazy quilt style hats. This is time consuming so I do them only on an "as ordered" basis but also crazy piece other items like tote bags, table runners, etc. Basically anything that I can think of and have time to try. I had a lady order a hat all the way from Tennessee in the spring! Imagine my excitement to think that one of my creations was going to be in another country! It was a thrill for this rural woman who's world has shrunk to home, church, and family for the most part. I think it's wonderful that you are offering a place for people to show their creations with pride and dignity! Bravo!!!
Thanks again for the newsletter! You still brighten my e-mail box every time! Alison P. in Nova Scotia, Canada
* Alison - We can't wait to see some of your handiwork! .........................
Pearl, I would not recommend a facial scrub w/sugar as it is very abrasive and could tear tender facial skin. Ground oats make a nice facial cleanser, just whiz them up in the blender and add a little water to 1 tablespoon or so in your palm. This is far less abrasive and also very smoothing to the skin.
I make an acne gel for my teenagers, I get the cotton round pads, at the dollar store, I mix up 1/4 cup witch hazel, 1/4 cup aloe gel (pure gel, it is clear) and 4 drops of tea tree oil. I mix this up and put the pads in a jar w/lid, cover w/the gel and there you have some facial pads.
Ivory soap is no longer pure..it is like all other detergent soaps, the glycerin is removed and it is quite harsh on facial skin. Homemade soaps contain the natural glycerin and are better on skin however, it is a matter of preference. Penny
* Penny - thanks for writing! We appreciate your input & realize that we all have different types of skin & need to be careful what we use. Also thanks for the great tips! .........................
Dear Pearl, We just got chickens for the first time in May, and are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the first egg. Did you know that rather than purchase feed, you can feed easily make your own much cheaper by feeding ground corn and fresh table scraps? In addition to the organic corn that we grind ourselves, we feed our chickens leftover milk, beef, beef fat, eggshells, vegetable trimmings, leftovers, etc. This ends up being a fraction of the cost of organic feed. I'll be praying for you - what a worthwhile adventure! Awaiting His Return, Dawn
