Just thought I would share my newest project with you. I knit this purse out of wool and made it VERY VERY large. Then I washed it on normal cycle in my washing machine in HOT HOT water. I had to put it thru 3 cycles before it shrunk enough to be this very thick durable purse for my daughter. I hope she likes it.  Smiley

What a beautiful gift!

I have just starting learning about "felted" items this year, and even in the short amount of time that I have known about it, I have REALLY come to love all of the great items that can be made from this technique!

I especially love the little beads that you can use to make necklaces, key chains, zipper pulls, etc.!

Here are a few examples from Flickr:

Pearl,
Those are darling. They must be made with the Needle Felting method. If you look at wool yarn or fibers up close..like under magnifying glass.. you would see that it is fuzzy..when you felt something those fuzzies get tangled up along with the shrinking and produce some of the most wonderful things. I wish I would have taken before and after pictures of some slippers that I felted. prewash..they were about 18 in long...10 in high.. looked like the jolly green giant could have used them. When I shrunk them they ended up a perfect size ladies 8 1/2! When you needle felt you take the yarn or wool and use a special "barbed" needle to plunge into the wool to tangle it to produce felt. Perfect method for adding flowers or designs to handbags.
